Privacy Policy

We Sell Your House is operated by Alfano Technologies Inc. (“we”, “us”), Hamilton, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. What we collect, and why

Everyone who visits

• Server logs: your IP address, browser, the page you asked for and when. The free calculators put what you type into the page address, so those figures appear in these logs. We use logs to keep the site running and secure, and delete them after 14 days.
• Cookies: a security cookie on every page, and others only as described in our Cookie Policy.
• Analytics: only if you allow analytics cookies. See our Analytics and Tracking Policy.

The free home tools and home search

Calculator inputs (such as income, budget or sale price) are used only to show your result. We don’t save them to our database. The home search sends a search phrase (area, home type, bedrooms and price limit, never your name or contact details) to our search provider to find links to other sites.

When you ask a realtor to contact you

The “have a realtor contact me” and “ask about this home” forms collect your name, email, optional phone number, area, whether you’re buying or selling, your message, the figures from the tool you used, the listing (if any) and your IP address. With your consent, which you give on the form, we share these details with a registered Ontario realtor so they can contact you about your request. The IP address helps us stop spam.

Newsletter and waitlist

Your email address, the date you signed up and your IP address. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Contact form

Your name, email, optional phone and message are emailed to us so we can reply. They aren’t stored in our database.

Realtor accounts

• Account: name, email and password (stored only as a secure one-way hash).
• Profile: headshot, phone number, brokerage, RECO registration number, and optionally a bio, website, city, service area and social media links. These appear on your videos and, if your profile is switched on, on a public profile page.
• Payments: top-up amounts, HST, and the payment reference. Card payments are handled by Stripe; your card details never reach us. For e-transfers we keep the reference and amount.
• Videos and listings: the listing link you provide, the facts and photos we read from that public listing page, the narration and the finished videos. A finished video creates a public listing page on our Listings page, with your agent details. You can mark it sold or delete it from your dashboard.
• Featuring on our social channels: only if you tick the box for a video. See our Terms of Use, section 5.
• Leads sent to you: the details a member of the public agreed to share with you.

We use this information to provide the service, process payments, send you service emails (for example “your videos are ready”), keep accounts secure and remove spam accounts. New sign-ups are reviewed, by automated checks and by people, to remove spam.

Your email, the listing link, and any agent details or headshot you supply for the video.

2. Who we share it with

We don’t sell or rent personal information. We share it only:

• with a registered realtor, when you ask to be contacted;
• with the service providers below, who process it for us under contract and only to provide their service;
• when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

Because some providers are outside Canada, your information may be processed in Finland, Switzerland or the United States, and the authorities there may be able to access it under their laws.

3. How long we keep it

• Server logs: 14 days.
• Account, profile, payment and video records: while your account is open, and afterwards as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally six years for financial records).
• Requests to be contacted by a realtor, and newsletter and waitlist sign-ups: until you ask us to delete them or unsubscribe.
• Database backups: a rolling set of daily, weekly and monthly copies, replaced as new ones are made.

4. How we protect it

The site runs only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run them. We back up our data regularly. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold, and we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.

5. Your choices and rights

• Access and correction: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or for it to be corrected. Realtors can update most of their details from the dashboard.
• Withdraw consent: for example, decline analytics cookies, unsubscribe from the newsletter, or ask us to stop sharing a request with a realtor. Withdrawal doesn’t undo sharing that has already happened.
• Deletion: ask us to delete your information. We’ll delete what we don’t need to keep by law.

We respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

6. Children

The site isn’t meant for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

7. Links to other sites

The home search and listing pages link to other websites, such as brokerage and real estate portals. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

8. Changes to this policy

We’ll post any changes here with a new date. If a change is significant, we’ll tell account holders by email.
